Lynn Donald Borland, age 62, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Mr. Borland, a native of Stark County, Ohio, was born Sept. 28, 1944. He was employed with TRW/PCC and has lived in Douglas for 37 years. His church membership was at First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include: wife Sandra Borland of Douglas; daughter Kim (Andy) Hayman of Waycross; son Brad ( April) Borland of Douglas; parents Charles and Venone Borland of Minerva, Ohio; brothers Gary Borland of Minerva, Ohio, Dean Borland of Key West, Fla., and Gayn Borland of New Port News, Va.; and grandchildren Parker Lynn Borland and Allison Borland.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at First Baptist Church, Douglas with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Ron Lambert and Ed Ford gave the eulogy. Soloist Gayland Collins sang “You Lift Me Up” and the congregation sang “Because He Lives” and “Amazing Grace” with Marsha Gilliard, pianist. Also, soloist Lynn Jones sang “Never Alone."
Burial followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.
The active pallbearers were Benji Stevens, Buck Heard, Teddy Davis, Frances Fountain, Dr. Darel Edwards, Ron Lambert Les Post and Jackie Flanagan.
Honorary pallbearers were: Theresa Mazzer, Tammie Maze, Don Clarke, Jessie Dunwoody, Jackie and Liz Flanagan, Mel Pugh, Colin Toogood, Mary Lou Gillespie, Tammie Maze and Mary Fountain, Denise Craft, the deacons of First Baptist Church and the Young Singles Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church.
